Hi, I’m Alec with Enpac. Today we’re going to show you how to clean up a spill.

Spills are not only harmful to people and the environment, but they’re also costly to your bottom line. Knowing how to remediate a spill quickly is vital. Before a spill even occurs, it’s important to be prepared.

Helping me out today is Gian Carlo. Spills seldom occur in a convenient location. Wheeled kits mobilize your cleanup efforts and minimize response time. After you have gathered all the necessary spill response equipment, make sure all non-essential personnel clear the area for their own safety.

The first thing you should do is put on your personal protective equipment. Standard items will be goggles and chemically resistant gloves, although all kits can vary. If applicable, sealed drains with covers to prevent contamination to local water sources. Surround the spill with absorbent socks to prevent it from spreading further and covering more ground which will lengthen the cleanup process. Sock up the majority of the liquid with absorbent pads. Properly dispose the of the saturated pads in an appropriate waste bag. Clean up any remaining residue with a granular absorbent.

Ensorb is a highly efficient, environmentally friendly, lightweight product that reduces disposal costs. Dispose of all remaining materials in a salvage drum or other appropriate container. Move the drum to a designated area for pickup and remediation. Record and report the incident in accordance with company policy as well as local, state, and federal regulation.

Now that the spill has been safely and quickly cleaned up, normal workflow and productivity can resume. Enpac: protecting the environment and you bottom line.
